Emerging Artists
Rubielle Nejaime
Dancer & Choreographer "A strength I have that will help me find success is my openness to all experiences and what they teach — the ups and downs, the ‘failed’ audition and the successful ones. My ability to make keen observations is also a strength — how dance ties in with physics and anatomy; how it relates to the spirit; how it demands more of you than your physical faculties. I meet more and more people who also act as reservoirs for the universe's experience of dance. They shed their light on my path and teach me, sometimes actively, but oftentimes by just being themselves. I am humbled by every moment's worth of experience garnered, most of which my words put to paper can only articulate minimally."

Saige Valentino
Singer & Actor "As backwards as it sounds, my tendency towards procrastination has set me up with tools for my future success. Waiting until the last minute to do things forces you to be quick and think on your feet. In theater, everything happens rapidly, and if you don’t get what’s being thrown at you in the time given, you’re cut. In my time performing, I’ve essentially forced myself to learn and memorize music and lines extremely quickly. So, in a way, I accidentally prepared myself to handle the stress and fast-paced nature of my career through my lack of time management."

Juliana Woods
Multimedia Visual Artist "My work comes from a place of questioning, a natural curiosity that I can only attempt to satisfy through my evolving visual language. I believe this hunger for knowledge has shaped my practice and will be essential as I work to achieve my future goals. I use my artwork to understand the world around me; it is and always has been the best way I can communicate. My curiosity and dedicated work ethic will help me remain true to my artistic vision and, hopefully, will allow me to find success as a young artist just beginning my lifelong journey."

The Strength of Resilience
"One of the character strengths I believe will help all of us find success or reach our goals in the future is resilience. Our generation has come of age in a world of great volatility and uncertainty that seems to be an extension of a post-pandemic reality, one that demands many internal resources we are not yet prepared for. For myself, resilience is more than the ability to cope or dig deep for inner strength. I have found that resilience grows also by taking action and by finding meaning or purpose in life’s toughest challenges. As a young person in today’s post-pandemic world, it is difficult to find your purpose as it feels as though so many opportunities for exploration and learning have diminished. If you think of ‘creating’ your purpose, rather than ‘finding’ your purpose, the vision may be easier to see."
