MARISA MOELLER, PH.D.: In an episode of my podcast Radiant Living: Inspiring Humanity to Thrive, we take you behind the scenes of our small property to show how we're truly living the permaculture life — growing food, building soil, and working with the land in harmony. It’s a glimpse into our evolving food forest — a reminder that even the smallest patch of earth can yield great abundance and become a sanctuary of nourishment and renewal. |
MARY THERESE YAMAMOTO: Worried about the tariff situation? Here are some actionable tips to help you mitigate the effects on your clients: 1) Communicate Price Adjustments Clearly: When price increases are necessary due to tariffs, openly explain this to your clients. Transparency fosters understanding and potential empathy. 2) Ensure Accurate Tax Handling: If you are passing along tariff charges on imported goods, please be aware that these are generally not subject to sales tax. Verify that your accounting system is correctly configured to reflect this. 3) Consider Local Sourcing: Explore the feasibility of sourcing your materials locally. Highlighting this shift as “supporting local" could be a positive selling point, even if there are slight cost differences. |
T'ALYNE: Artists benefit immensely from residencies, stepping away from daily routines to immerse in new environments. My latest Project is a Residency offer to artists, writers, poets, and creatives. The Pyramid Project has launched for 2025. Taking a break fosters creativity, offering fresh perspectives and uninterrupted focus. Residencies provide dedicated time and space for experimentation, free from distractions like bills or chores. By escaping familiar surroundings, artists challenge their creative boundaries, producing innovative work that reflects personal growth and enriched artistic vision. DR. EMILY BOBSON, DC: In 2023, as part of Sanctuary’s Ask an Expert section, I answered readers’ questions regarding self-advocacy when it comes to medical care. One tip I provided: If you are dealing with a chronic, long-standing health issue, keep everything and take notes in an assigned journal or book with dates, including names of those you spoke with – especially information exchanged with the insurance company regarding approvals. |
MARY AHERN: My painting “Unstoppable” recently made its debut in the heart of the New York City art scene at Ceres Gallery, a feminist gallery dedicated to the promotion of contemporary women in the arts. This painting boldly challenges forces that undermine democratic values and silence marginalized communities fighting for equality. Throughout my lifelong journey as a fine artist, business owner, and dedicated volunteer, I’ve fought against the systematic subjugation of women’s voices and independence, refusing to accept the institutional barriers designed to limit women’s power and self-determination. Find this piece as part of “Raising Women’s Voices 2025” at Ceres Gallery ~ 547 West 27th Street, Suite 201 in Manhattan. Gallery hours: Tuesday through Saturday, 12 to 6 p.m. |
