Carly Watson received a B.F.A. from SUNY New Paltz (New Paltz, NY) in May 2016. While at SUNY New Paltz, Carly was the head of public relations for the Design Society and worked as a freelance artist creating promotional materials and logos for several companies.
Carly has utilized her love of the arts to support LTI, a non-profit organization that helps battered women get housing and regain their self-esteem. She designed promotional material for this organization. She also cares deeply for the environment and opted to include both an educational and philanthropic focus to her senior project (see below). Carly is currently a graduate student at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY where she is pursuing a master's degree in marketing. |
She hopes to be able to blend market research and her knowledge of design to create products that consumers are drawn to.

Critters of the Gunks
Carly's senior project at SUNY New Paltz was inspired by animals that live in the Shawangunk mountain range. Carly is working on developing her project into a small business that sells tee shirts, pillows and other items adorned with the artistic renderings of various animals that inhabit this mountain range. The goal is to celebrate the biodiversity of the region and the beauty of the Gunks through illustration, education and charity. With every purchase made, money will be given back to charities to help protect the Gunks. The images below are just some of the illustrations Carly created for her project.
