She is a community leader and philanthropist who has lead a plethora of fundraisers and projects for non-profits in her local community, some garnering record-breaking donations. She is the winner of the Ojai Valley School Award for Community Service.

Maureen Hogan Lutz (October '16 Featured Interview) is an author and founder of the non-profit organization The Necessities Bag™ which provides information and post-surgical supplies free of charge to nearly one thousand women annually. In 2007, The View (ABC talk show) featured Maureen as one of the “Warriors of the Week” during a series recognizing those who had made an extraordinary effort to help women battling breast cancer. She is also a member of Sanctuary's Advisory Board.

Michele Borba, Ed.D., (August '16 Featured Interview) is an internationally-renowned educator, award-winning author and parenting expert, who is globally recognized for her solution-based strategies to strengthen children’s empathy, social-emotional intelligence and character in order to reduce peer cruelty and bullying. Her most recent book UnSelfie: Why Empathetic Kids Succeed In Our All-About Me World (Touchstone) was released in June. She has won numerous awards in education and her proposal “Ending School Violence and Student Bullying” (SB1667) was signed into California law in 2002.

She is cofounder and president of Hands Up for Haiti (an organization that has helped to transform medical care in northern Haiti). She is the author and producer of the Simply Parenting series of childcare books and videos. Mary Ann is also vice president of the BNN Foundation (a non-profit organization supporting compassionate and effective communication in healthcare).
