Danny Kean is an accomplished singer-songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist and actor. Blind from birth, Danny began playing piano at age two. By the time he was 15, he was playing New York City clubs and appearing on recording sessions. In 2003, Danny appeared at the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival and, in 2005, he won the Apollo Amateur Night four times in a row.
His songs have been covered by rock and soul legends Gary U.S. Bonds and Maxine Brown. His critically acclaimed, self-titled album, Danny Kean, was released in 2011. In September 2013, Danny became the youngest member to be inducted into the New York Blues Hall Of Fame. He released the Here It Is EP in June 2017, which also received critical praise and produced three charting singles: “You Love Me” peaked at number 48 on the U.S. smooth jazz charts, “Soul Provider” was nominated for song of the year in Soultracks Readers’ Choice Awards, and “I Can’t Wait” reached number 42 on the Carolina Beach Music charts in May of 2018. In April 2016, Danny became the face of Tourisme Quebec’s “Blind Love” viral video campaign. In the video, he shares, “You know, there’s a reason why people close their eyes when they kiss, when they cry, and when they pray. Because the most essential things in life must be felt with our hearts.” |
