Gordon Bruce was born in Aberdeen, Scotland where he currently resides. The arts have interested him all of his life. He studied fine art at Gray's School of Art at Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen. He then started his painting business in 2003. His medium of choice is oil paint, and he enjoys painting both traditional and non-traditional scenes.
Gordon has been influenced by other artists. He says, "I have had many influences, but the artists who stand out are L.S. Lowry and Louise Rayner. While working on my degree, Joyce Cairns was an influential mentor to me." Gordon says that the nearby countryside has been an inspiration for his paintings of cows and sheep. More recently, he has been painting scenes from children’s stories such as Peter Pan and A Christmas Carol. |
