Janis Tafoya is an artist from New Mexico. She says, "My paintings spring from the heart and emotions. For me, painting is emotional therapy, and when I am creating art, I go to my special place." She works primarily in oils and says a lot her inspiration comes from trips to the Rocky Mountains in Colorado during the summer months. "I go as many times as I can each year...Silverton, Telluride, Valliceto...each time is like the first time." When she paints, Janis plays music that speaks to her creative side.
She is also passionate about several charitable organizations. "I donate to the VFW because it helps disabled veterans and their families. They give so much for us, and they keep us safe. It is an honor to give back just a little." Janis also donates regularly to the Salvation Army and The Arc (a non-profit which serves and supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families).
