Jillian is a senior at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, where she is pursuing her bachelor’s degree with a double major in writing and rhetoric and English literature (as well as a minor in Holocaust studies).
Jillian is a lover of both writing and literature. After interning at her local newspaper in high school, Jillian continued to pursue writing in any way she could. In college, she serves as a writing fellow in the Center of Teaching and Learning, where she makes herself available to edit papers. She was also a part of an editorial acquisitions board for her school’s small press, Seneca Review Books, where she helped select four semifinalist manuscripts for the Deborah Tall Lyric Essay Book Prize. Aside from her writing pursuits, Jillian is also passionate about the advocacy of human rights and has served as part of her school’s Human Rights and Genocide Symposium for two years.
In her spare time, Jillian is reading one of the many books on her shelves, experimenting with different styles of writing, going on a two-mile run (no less, and certainly no more), or finding a reason to bake and then finding a reason to eat it.
Statement: I was introduced to Sanctuary by my grandmother, author Bette Ann Moskowitz, who was interviewed for the magazine and has since become a friend of Myrna’s. I admired (and still continue to admire) the way Sanctuary really does their research to make known the inspiring and incredible work that women do. I am excited to be part of a team of successful and talented women and to do my part in providing inspiring content.
