LISA SALERNO: Mixed Media Artist, Writer & Autism Advocate
Lisa's "Artism" Series:
Lisa started her “Artism” series after a year-long hiatus from painting following her son’s autism diagnosis. When she was finally ready to pick up the brushes again, she decided to paint a portrait of her son using his torn up IEPs (Individualized Education Plans) and therapy notes to share her family’s story of struggle, hope, and loving acceptance. She wanted to use her art and platform as a way of promoting awareness and acceptance, while offering comfort to other families going through the same. Among other projects, Lisa paints portraits of children on the spectrum to celebrate what makes each child unique.
